Water Conservation

  • Check the inside faucets for leaks. Even a faucet with a small leak can waste a lot of water.
  • Keep showers to 5 minutes or less. A five minute shower using a low-flow restrictor will use 15-25 gallons of water.
  • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.
  • Use dishwashers and washing machines for full loads only.
  • Use a bucket of water when washing your vehicles and wash your cars on the lawn.
  • Water your lawn at night or in the early morning to avoid evaporation. Also, use an automatic timer on your irrigation system.
  • Check outside faucets, hoses and automatic sprinklers for leaks.
  • Use a nozzle on your hose to stop the water flow when not using it.
  • Attach low-flow faucet aerators to faucets.
  • Install low-flow shower heads and toilets. Low flow toilets typically use  the water of a standard toilet.
